The elite level racing action in Melbourne moves to HQ today, Saturday February 15, for Black Caviar Lightning Day 2020 with the latest Flemington track report and race scratchings detailed below.
The weather trackside in Melbourne has showers forecast across the afternoon meaning the current Good (4) Flemington track rating looks set to stay for the nine-race card.
Flemington racing gets underway at 12:30pm (AEDT) and continues through until 5:30pm (AEDT) with three Group status races highlighting the program.
The first of the features and potentially the race of the day is Race 5 – the Group 3 $160,000 2020 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) – for the Australian Guineas-bound three-year-old colts and geldings.
It is a star-studded affair despite just seven hopefuls remaining following the scratching of #7 Big Parade (6) with CS Hayes Stakes odds dominated by boom Queenslander Alligator Blood ($2 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).
The meeting’s marquee race also features a diminutive field of seven sprinters with the Group 1 $750,000 2020 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) scheduled for Flemington Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT)
Dual The Everest champion Redzel drawn the rails and the returning filly Loving Gaby are considered the dangers in Black Caviar Lightning betting that is firmly led by Chris Waller’s Flemington specialist Nature Strip ($1.45 @ Ladbrokes.com.au.
The penultimate race on the line-up is the Group 3 $160,000 2020 The Vanity (1400m) with 10 three-year-old fillies doing battle including Godolphin’s undefeated favourite Katalin ($2.30 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) in the outside alley.
See below for the full Flemington Black Caviar Lightning Day race schedule and Saturday scratchings before heading to Ladbrokes.com.au to back your favourites across the afternoon at the best price.
