It is a cloudy morning at Randwick but with only light showers forecast across the day the current Good (4) track rating looks set to remain until the last.

Sydney racing for Expressway Stakes Day kicks off at 12:55pm (AEDT) and the nine-race card continues through until 5:50pm (AEDT).

Black-Type racing is first up with the opening two races serving as early Golden Slipper lead-ups for the juveniles.

The fillies are on show in the first with just five in the Group 3 $160,000 Widden Stakes (1100m) led in betting by the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game ($2.15 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

The second has the colts and geldings doing battle in the Group 3 $160,000 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) where the Chris Waller-trained Group 3 winner Global Quest ($2.40 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) is the favourite to defeat his five rivals.

The meeting’s headline event runs as Race 7 at 4:30pm (AEDT) with three scratchings from the Group 2 $200,000 Expressway Stakes (1200m) field.

After 10 original final acceptors there are just seven left in the mix after the withdrawal of: #3 Special Reward (2), #8 Kubrick (4) and the Godolphin-raced Golden Slipper winning filly #10 Kiamichi (10).

The Expressway Stakes scratchings have seen the price on the defending champion Alizee firm into $2.25 through Ladbrokes.com.au as the three-time Group 1 winning mare chases successive victories in the weight-for-age feature for the first time since Court’s In Session (2005-06).
