The weather in Melbourne for Mackinnon Stakes Day is cloudy with only a moderate chance of showers across the afternoon meaning the current Good (4) Flemington track rating looks should hold true.

Flemington racing kicks off at 12:15pm (AEDT) and the nine-race card continues through until 5:45pm (AEDT).

Headlining the meeting are two elite-level spring features, the first of which is the Group 1 $2 million Darley Sprint Classic (1200m) with a star-studded filed of nine facing off in the fifth at 2:50pm (AEDT).

Santa Ana Lane is the one to beat chasing successive wins in the lucrative ‘Straight Six’ showdown for the first time since Black Caviar (2010-11).

The meeting’s marquee event is then the Group 1 $2 million Mackinnon Stakes (2000m), the capacity field led by champion New Zealand-trained mare Melody Belle who chases her 11^th Group 1 success in Flemington Race 8 at 4:55pm (AEDT), while the event also serves as the swansong for retiring Godolphin great Hartnell.
