A patient ride from Raquel Clark helped $2.60 favourite Dalasan over the line at Flemington on Saturday on the way to claiming the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m).

After a bit of a scare down the straight, the push button colt showed an elite turn of foot looming on the outside of Dubious before racing away to a comfortable win.

The three-year-old by Dalakhani has now won four of his five starts for trainer Leon Macdonald, who says he plans to lineup in next fortnight’s Group 2 Guineas Prelude (1400m) ahead of the Caulfield Guineas on October 12.

“He’s a bit lost up the straight but he overcome that and I’m sure it’s onwards and upwards from here, he’ll get a bit better with some racing” Macdonald said of Saturday’s ride.

“He’ll go to the Guineas Prelude a fortnight tomorrow and then to the Guineas.”

Dalasan, who won the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Morphettville a month ago, has firmed from $7.00 into $5.00 favouritism with sponsor Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of the Caulfield Guineas.

Clark, who regained the ride following Craig Williams’ runner up placing in the VRC Sires’ Produce back in March, said she thought Dalasan looked a little green on Saturday but always knew the horse could get the job done on ability alone.

“He’s very green and for once I got on his back there was no nerves, he was all excitement. He’s a professional in his own right like I said, very green still but he’s got so much ability” Clark said.

Dubious was a good thing beaten, while third place-getter Express Pass has also firmed in the 2019 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas market at Ladbrokes.com.au from $21.00 into $15.00.
