Racing NSW closed early entries for all three of the elite level races on Epsom Handicap Day, which runs at Royal Randwick on October 5.

That included receiving 68 nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Darley Flight Stakes (1600m).

The final leg of Sydney’s ‘Princess Series of Races’ over the spring, early Flight Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au on the nominated fillies is dominated by Cummings’ daughter of I Am Invincible Libertini at $2.80.

She has won four of her five career starts to date including completing the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes – Furious Stakes double at Randwick this time in.

Her Furious Stakes assignment had her jumping at Winx-like odds of $1.18, and while she won for the punters in the end, it was a tough battle with the brave front-runner Villami.

Gerald Ryan’s nicely-bred Foxwedge filly Villami held on for second and is nominated for a rematch in the Flight Stakes field.

The two fillies are also set to do battle earlier in the third leg of the series, the Group 2 $200,000 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 21.

Despite her huge effort last time out, Villami is only rated a $15 chance in the pre-field Flight Stakes odds online.

There are currently four other single-figure fancies following Libertini in the markets including $4.60 second-elect Funstar.

The Adelaide filly is prepared by leading Sydney horseman Chris Waller who has four potential Flight Stakes fillies in 2019.

The other best in betting are Godolphin’s Silver Shadow runner-up Flit ($5), Kiwi-trained Probabeel ($9) who finished fourth in the Furious Stakes first-up and the other most likely for the Waller camp Subpoenaed ($9).

Flit gets the chance to further her Flight Stakes potential when she runs second-up this Saturday at Rosehill in the Group 2 Run To The Rose.

Last year’s winning stable of Tony & Calvin McEvoy took out the race with Oohood in 2018 and return with a bumper 13 Flight Stakes nominations this year.

The McEvoy-trained nominees include Aten, Marndarra and Pretty Brazen.

Also in the mix are the likes of Ladbrokes Blue Diamond winner Lyre, and Bjorn Baker’s the ultra-consistent maiden Let It Pour coming off back-to-back thirds in the Silver Shadow and Furious Stakes.
