Brisbane racing on Straddie day kicks off at 11:10am (AEST) and the meeting concludes with the stayers doing battle in the Group 2 $400,000 2019 Brisbane Cup (2400m) over the mile-and-a-half at 4:15pm (AEST).

There are three elite level winter feature races taking place across the card starting with Race 6 where the season’s top two-year-olds face off in the Group 1 $600,000 2019 J.J. Atkins (1600m) where the original 15 acceptors remain in contention.

Group 1 racing continues with the $600,000 Queensland Derby (2400m) and the big news out of Eagle Farm Race 7 is the scratching of the well-fancied filly Scarlet Dream (16) meaning first emergency Home Made (12) has gained a start for trainer John Sargent.

The meetings time-honoured marquee is of course the Group 1 $1.5 million 2019 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) jumping at 3:35pm (AEST) and only the emergencies have come out of the field in Queensland’s richest race.
