The early announcement that 2018 Golden Slipper winner Estijaab, with $2,312,575 in prizemoney, was out for the Spring Carnival and will miss the Golden Rose, the Tony McEvoy trained Sunlight, who is officially marked at number two under the Team Hawkes trained Estijaab, is now the top qualifier.

Sunlight is listed with $1,947,200 in earning, almost double of her stablemate Oohood who has $1,001,000, courtesy of her three Group 1 placings during her two year old season, a third in the $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, a second in the $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill and a second in the $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick.

The Ben Smith trained El Dorado Dreaming is the fourth in the order of entry and burst into Golden Rose Stakes calculations with her upset win at $81 in the Inglis Sires’  followed by a third in the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

Smith is expecting the Ilovethecity filly to continue to be competitive in the feature races throughout the 2018 Spring Carnival and has planned for the filly to resume in the Group 2 $200,000 Darley Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 15.

“There’s some pretty big plans for her but I’m pretty sure she’s in the market in all of those,” Smith told the Newcastle Herald.

“That run in the Champagne proved she’s up to the grade and she’s come back in better order, so I’m sure she’s going to run well in these big races.”

The Mick Price trained filly Seabrook is fifth, ahead of the Chris Waller pair The Autumn Sun and Fiesta, Lindsay Park’s Enbihaar, Queensland filly Outback Barbie with the Leon and Troy Corstens trained Thrillster sitting at number ten in the Golden Rose Stakes order of entry.

Early betting for the 2018 Golden Rose Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au: $6 The Autumn Sun, $7 Graff, $12 More Sundays, $14 Zousain, $16 Bondi, Brutal, Fiesta, Long Leaf, Oohood, Performer, Seabrook, $118 El Dorado Dreaming, Sandbar, $26 Lean Mean Machine, $31 Granny Red Shoes, Santos, Thrillster, $41 or better the rest.
