Miss Fabulass early favourite in 2018 Furious Stakes betting

Lightly raced filly Miss Fabulass has been installed the favourite for the Group 2 $200,000 Darley Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Miss Fabulass is stepping straight up to Group 2 company after breaking through for her maiden win at Canterbury on August 15 at only her second race start but bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au have her at the top of the Furious Stakes market order at $3.50.

The Silver Shadow Stakes quinella of Fiesta and Outback Barbie are sharing the second line of betting at $5 just ahead of the Golden Slipper runner up Oohood and the Percy Sykes Stakes winner Pure Elation at $6 each.

Kerrin McEvoy was aboard Miss Fabulass for her win in the three year old Maiden (1100m) at Canterbury and the high profile rider will be aboard the Frankel filly again in the Furious Stakes.

Miss Fabulass only had two opponents at Canterbury but beat then easily and Lees is keen to test the regally bred filly against some tougher opposition.

“I’m looking forward to stepping Miss Fabulass up to Saturday company in the Furious. She has trained on strongly since her recent midweek Canterbury victory and Kerrin McEvoy will ride her again,” Lees told Racing New South Wales Racing Desk.

James McDonald will stick with Outback Barbie after the filly finished a gallant second to the Chris Waller trained Fiesta in the Group 2 $200,000 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on August 18.

The Tony Gollan trained filly was slow to leave the barriers in the Silver Shadow Stakes and had to settle in the second half of the field behind the eventual winner Fiesta.

McDonald stuck to the fence in the straight but had a lot of trouble finding clear space and only saw daylight in final fifty metres which then enabled Outback Barbie to stretch out but the filly failed by a long head to run down the winner.

Gollan knows that Outback Barbie is not far away from winning a nice race and thinks with a change of luck she could turn the tables on Fiesta in the Furious Stakes.

Early betting for the 2018 Furious Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.50 Miss Fabulass, $5 Fiesta, Outback Barbie, $6 Oohood, Pure Elation, $9 Fundamentalist, $11 Pretty In Pink, $16 Cristobal, $26 Satin Slipper, $31 Let Me Sleep On It, Sweet Ava, $51 Meryl, $101 Unguarded.
