Doomben Track Report – 12/05/2018

  • Rail: True Entire Course
  • Penetrometer: 5.51
  • Weather: Fine
  • Track Type: Turf
  • Track Rating: Soft (6)
  • Irrigation: Nil
  • Rainfall: Nil last 24hrs; 23mm last 7 days

It is a sunny day in Brisbane and with no chance of rain across the afternoon the current Soft (6) Doomben track rating could be upgraded, but there will still be a nice bit of sting out of the ground for those horses that prefer it.

Brisbane racing kicks off at 11:25am (AEST) and the nine race card continues through until the 2018 Queensland Derby hopes face off in the Group 3 $125,000 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) at 4:30pm (AEST).

The big one is of course the weight-for-age Group 1 $700,000 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) where the field is down to 13 after Friday’s scratching of Lucky Hussler (1).

Betting on Doomben Race 8 this afternoon through Ladbrokes.com.au is firmly led by the defending Doomben 10,000 champion Redzel ($2.45) looking to bounce back after a lead-up second to Trapeze Artist in Sydney’s Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) last month.

There are two Group 2 support acts on the card starting with Race 5 – the 2018 Champagne Classic for two-year-olds featuring all 11 original acceptors, and Race 7 – the 2018 The Roses for 16 Queensland Oaks bound fillies.

See below for the full Doomben 10,000 Day race program and Doomben scratchings before heading to Ladbrokes.com.au for the best weekend racing odds!
