The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Prompt Response is tipped to enjoy back-to-back wins this autumn heading the Millie Fox Stakes 2018 field and betting markets for the Hobartville Stakes Day support act in Sydney on Saturday.
The four-year-old daughter of Beneteau celebrated her maiden first-up success at her sixth attempt a fortnight back at Warwick Farm taking out the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) by one and a half lengths in an impressive effort fresh.
She now runs second-up rising in distance slightly for the Group 2 $200,000 Vinery Stud Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens on the weekend and came up trumps drawing barrier one in the 10 starter field of fillies and mares.
Jockey Blake Shinn retains the ride on the favourite with Prompt Response sitting at a current quote of $3.80 in Millie Fox Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.
From the inside alley she will likely be up on the pace throughout this weekend presenting fit and ready to fire at her first Rosehill start since March of 2016.
In a wide open market there are a further four runners at single-figures in the Millie Fox Stakes odds including the $4.60 second elect Foxplay returning to racing from a gun barrier three draw.
Hugh Bowman of Winx fame rides the Chris Waller-trained Foxwedge grey who has plenty of good form fresh (5:1-3-0) and who boasts a similarly good place rate at the Rosehill track (5:2-1-0).
Foxplay hasn’t raced since her fifth to Shoals in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) over the Flemington mile on VRC Derby Day and is looking to break a notable drought going back to her Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) win at Randwick in April of 2017.
Her latest Rosehill runs meanwhile produced the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) win in March last autumn followed by her close fourth when two lengths beaten on a Heavy (9) track in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).
Waller has also accepted for his multiple Group 1 winner Egg Tart in the Millie Fox Stakes field on the weekend, Brenton Avdulla booked to ride the 59kg top weight in the set weights plus penalties clash.
Sebring four-year-old Egg Tart was on fire during her three-year-old season winning a host of races including the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2010m) – Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) interstate double.
She hasn’t won since her success in the latter at Doomben in June last year and is out to improve on her last start 10th to stablemate Shillelagh in the Group 1 Kennedy Mile (1600m) during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The early market mover meanwhile is Egyptian Symbol ($7 into $6.50) jumping from barrier four and bringing into the race the same form lines as the favourite Prompt Response.
The ultra-consistent Bjorn Baker-trained Stratum five-year-old has run top three in her last three starts including her second in the Breeders Classic, but she will be tested over the extra distance here.
Equal on $6.50 for the win is Daysee Doom first-up for Ron Quinton, the Domesday five-year-old a winner of three of her seven Rosehill starts to date including the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) over stablemate Dixie Blossoms last September.
