Set to run as the Gold Coast Race 7 at 3:15pm (AEST), a full field of 16 including first emergency I Am Impinge ($34) coming in for the scratched Arrestar will face off in this summer’s $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

Barrier one has produced just a single Magic Millions Guineas winner, but that hasn’t stopped the punters coming for this year’s hot favourite drawn the inside alley Pierata.

The $500,000 Summer Crown Bonus is up for grabs should Gregory Hickman’s well-bred Pierro colt continue his excellent form and successfully back-up from a win in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m).

While the distance is ideal and the form outstanding, Pierata and jockey Corey Brown will need to work to stay out of trouble from the gate and that could open up value in Magic Millions Guineas betting.

Pierata sits top of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds at $2.40 through Ladbrokes.com.au and despite a capacity field the only other runner under $10 for the win is market mover Sasso Corbaro ($6 into $4.50).

Top hoop Damien Oliver rides the Kris Lees-trained All Too Hard filly Sasso Corbaro from a wide alley, the gun chestnut chasing her fourth win on the trot.

So will the best two in Magic Millions Guineas 2018 betting battle it out for the win or is there value further down the markets from the likes of Bjorn Baker’s Vo Rogue third placegetter Goodfella ($10) or last start Wyong winner Wild Heart ($12)?

1st

#15 Sasso Corbaro ($4.50)

The money is coming thick and fast for this progressive and still untapped filly who is yet to run worse than second in her five career starts. She comes off three wins, the latest of which had her carrying 58.5kg to a 3.3 length victory over 1300m at Randwick on December 30. The 1400m presents no issues, the drop to 54kg is a huge plus as is the booking of Oliver. Wide alley also no problem at the track and from out there expecting her to get a better run than the favourite putting her in contention for the win at better odds.

2nd

#1 Pierata ($2.40)

The inside alley saw the markets firm on this class colt, but he could find himself caught in traffic. Still, he’s the one to beat after the very good Vo Rogue Plate win. Right distance, Brown aboard again and if the hoop has this in-form favourite in the clear in the closing stages he’ll run away with it.

3rd

#17 I Am Impinge ($34)

Big price offered on the first emergency who has now gained a start and looks a juicy Place bet. Locally trained at the Gold Coast by Toby Edmonds, this son of I Am Invincible has winning form at the distance and two back won over 1350m at Doomben by two lengths. He was fa from disgraced when fourth to Pierata in the Vo Rogue Plate. Won’t win, but can place.

Now is the time to back our exclusive Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2018 tips at the best price through Ladbrokes.com.au.
