Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Sunlight ($2.90) staked her claim for Golden Slipper favouritism with a grinding win in the Silver Slipper Stakes for the two year olds. Tim Clark was able to settle the Tony McEvoy trained Sunlight just off the pace behind the two up front, Estijaab ($2.05 favourite) and Neutrality ($6.50). Even though Sunlight had a soft run in behind, she had to work hard in the straight to overhaul Estijaab who had a tough run in front. A neck separated the first two placegetters while there was another six and three quarter lengths back to the third placegetter Gongs ($8)

  • 1st – Sunlight
  • 2nd – Estijaab
  • 3rd – Gongs

A patient ride from Blake Shinn saw I Am Excited ($4.60 favourite) score a tidy first up win in the Spark Of Life Handicap. Shinn settled Spark Of Life near the tail of the field and sweated on a run in the straight which did open up off the back of fourth placegetter Trekking ($5).

I Am Excited was able to score by a long head from Marsupial ($5.50) who got the bound in for second just in front of Za Zi Ba ($10).

The win on I Am Excited wrapped up an early winning double for Blake Shinn who scored earlier on the Chris Waller trained Cellarman.

Kementari was sent out as the $3.20 favourite and kept the punters happy as he surged to the front over the concluding stages to record a one length win over Pierata ($4.60) who was working home late from the back.
