2017 WA Guineas Nominations & Betting

The bookies are taking no chances with the undefeated Grant & Alana Williams-trained filly Mikimoto who heads all-in WA Guineas 2017 betting following nominations for the Railway Stakes Day support act on November 25.

A bumper 85 three-year-olds make up the official early entries for this season’s Group 2 $500,000 W.A. Guineas (1600m), the set weights clash running at Ascot Racecourse Saturday week.

Twenty-one of the WA Guineas nominations are fillies entered to take on the colts and geldings, including Sebring filly Mikimoto.

A winner of all three of her career starts to date, she stepped-up to black-type company for the first time on November 7 winning the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m).

She now sits top of the futures WA Guineas odds online through Ladbrokes.com.au paying $4.50, a price that will firm should she win again this weekend in the Group 3 W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m).

Team Williams have a total of four WA Guineas nominees in 2017 with Mikimoto joined by fellow fillies Perfect Jewel and Showcase, along with Arcadia Prince.

Well-bred Pierro gelding Arcadia Prince won back-to-back races in October before a fourth last time out in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) on November 11.

Arcadia Prince remains a single-figure chance in WA Guineas betting paying $8 in an open early market on the mile showdown.

Following Mikimoto closely in those futures markets at $5 is Money Maher who won the Fairetha Stakes last Saturday.

The Daniel Pearce-trained Al Maher colt took his record up to three wins from nine starts and the WA Guineas will see him back in Group company for the first time since his third in the Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) as a two-year-old back in April.

Godolphin head Sydney-based trainer James Cummings is also preparing a possible assault on the WA Guineas field this summer nominating for four youngsters including Gaulois.

The Street Cry colt was last seen running eighth at Flemington on Derby Day in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) when only two and a half-lengths beaten.

His fourth placed stablemate in the same race, Beau Geste, also holds a WA Guineas nomination but is an unlikely final acceptor instead racing in this weekend’s Group 2 $250,000 Sandown Guineas (1600m) at Ladbrokes Park.

Another standout for the Perth feature is the Daniel Morton-trained Roganella who blitzed a One Metro Win race at the track / distance last Saturday saluting over the Ascot mile by over three lengths.

Morton’s Written Tycoon filly Sophia’s Secret who ran third in the Burgess Queen Stakes, ultra-consistent Sebring filly Art Series who was runner-up in the same race and the Simon Miller-trained Fairetha Stakes second placegetter Achernar Star are other noteworthy nominees for the WA Guineas this season.

Check out the full WA Guineas 2017 nominations before heading to Ladbrokes.com.au for access to all the top early Perth racing odds this summer.
