Black Heart Bart double nominated for 2017 Zipping Classic Day

Multiple Group 1 winner Black Heart Bart is double nominated for Zipping Classic Day at Sandown on Saturday but is likely to be saved for the Group 1 $1m James Boag’s Premium Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot in Perth the following week.

Trainer Darren Weir has entered Black Heart Bart for the Group 3 $150,000 Sandown Stakes (1500m) and the Group 3 $150,000 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m) but the seven year old is a strong chance to return to Western Australia after being allocated the top weight of 59kg for the Railway Stakes.

Black Heart Bart has had a freshen up since running fifth to Bonneval in the Group 1 $750,000 Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on October 1 and is ready to head back to the race track.

“He’s been up the farm a little while and went back down the beach yesterday and he’ll trial tomorrow morning (at Terang) and he’ll be ready to go either this Saturday or in the Railway the following week,” Weir told racing.com.

Black Heart Bart is one of nineteen horses nominated for the weight for age Kevin Heffernnan Stakes while twenty-one have been entered for the Sandown Stakes run under Quailty Handicap conditions.

Black Heart Bart was placed three times from four starts so far over the Melbourne Spring Carnival but has failed to find the winner’s stall with his best effort being a second to Vega Magic in the Group 1 $1m New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 2 before running third to his stablemate Humidor in the Group 1 $750,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 16.

Weir has also entered Burning Front and Lucky Hussler in both the Kevin Heffernnan Stakes and the Sandown Stakes.

Ladbrokes.com.au will be offering all the top odds for all ten races at Sandown on Zipping Classic Day on Saturday.
