Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Winx wins. They are the only two words punters at The Valley need to know on Saturday, but in case you want to know what she’s beating in her third Ladbrokes Cox Plate, below is the popular Races.com.au two word form analysis on her rivals.
It is a quality 10 race program at Moonee Valley on Saturday and the sold out crowd of Winx fans have to stick around until the penultimate event at 5:00pm (AEDT) to see the super mare join Kingston Town on a trio of wins in the Group 1 $3 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m).
In 2015 she beat 13 at $4.60, in 2016 she beat nine at $1.70 and this year she will beat nine at $1.16.
The fields are getting smaller as rivals shy away from a loss at the hands of Chris Waller’s 14-time Group 1 champion and the Cox Plate odds are obviously firming into near Phar Lap ($1.07 in 1931) territory.
Winx set a new Cox Plate winning margin record, surpassing that of Sunline (2001) and Dulcify (1979), with her eight length romp home.
That was when the superlative daughter of Street Cry was up to win number 13 on the trot.
She has now won her last 21 and counting and it is incredible to believe she is doing things like dominating her Flemington maiden with a six and a half-length win in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) as mere warm ups to Grand Final Day.
So what are the Ladbrokes Cox Plate horses vying for a slice of the left over prizemoney?
