Caulfield Track Report – 14/10/2017

  • Rail: True Entire Circuit
  • Weather: Fine
  • Track Type: Turf
  • Track Rating: Good (3)
  • Irrigation: 5mm last 24hrs; 15mm last 7 days
  • Rainfall: Nil last 24hrs; 13mm last 7 days

The Melbourne forecast today is for a partly cloudy afternoon and with zero chance of rainfall the current Good (3) Caulfield track rating is set to remain making for a top day on the turf.

There are four Group 1 spring races peppered across the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Day card, but Melbourne racing kicks off at 12:20pm (AEDT) with the Listed Inglis Debutant Stakes.

The action rounds out with Race 10 at 5:45pm (AEDT), three sprinters withdrawn from the 2017 Schillaci Stakes field, and it is an all-black type program at Caulfield today.

Caulfield Race 8 is the big one with two scratchings – Summer Passage (17) and Éclair Sunshine (12) – from the 2017 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas field.

The $2 million stallion-making classic will now run with just 15 starters, the race’s sole emergency Mighty Boss (5) getting a run, and the latest Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au support a return to winning form from Royal Symphony ($4.60).

The fillies face off in the day’s first Group 1 – the 2017 Thousand Guineas at 3:15pm (AEDT) – with the eight original acceptors still in the mix led by Alizee ($2.20).

In the next, Caulfield Race 7 features the original 11 hopefuls for the Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes 2017, betting a battle between Bonneval ($3) and Hartnell ($3.40).

Elite level racing at Caulfield rounds out with the Toorak Handicap 2017 (Race 9) and So Si Bon (19) is the only scratching from the mile feature, paving the way for Hugo Palmer’s international raider Mask Of Time to gain a run.
