2017 George Main Stakes Day Scratchings & Track Report

George Main Stakes Day has attracted nine outstanding fields to Royal Randwick this afternoon, highlighted by the third campaign appearance of champion mare Winx in the Group 1 feature race.

It is a fine day in the greater Sydney metropolitan region and the Randwick course has been rated a ‘Good 3’, after the penetrometer returned a reading of 4.95 this morning.

All nine races on George Main Stakes Day have drawn talented fields and the action is set to get underway with the running of the Highway Handicap (1000m) at 12:15pm.

Race 2 will see eight horses step out on the mile course, while the first black type race on George Main Stakes Day will be contested when a classy field of three-year-olds step out in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at 1:25pm.

This is winning potential across the field in both the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) and Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m), while Winx will face seven other horses in the George Main Stakes at 3:15pm.

Some of The Everest’s leading contender will contest an outstanding edition of the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m), while Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) and TAB.com.au Handicap (1200m) complete the George Main Stakes Day card.
