The Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) headlines the outstanding nine-race card at Caulfield today, however a total of five black type races will be run and won.

Race 1 (12:25pm) Sheen Group Plate Results

Rank outside Watchmespin has produced a perfectly-timed turn of foot to win Race 1 on Memsie Stakes Day.

Jockey James Winks settled Watchmespin at the tail of the seven-horse field this afternoon as Judy In Disguise and Justice Glory took up the early running and ensured the race would be run at a genuine tempo.

Faced with plenty to do upon arriving at the final straight, the Sepoy filly set about the task of reeling-in the runaway leaders and managed to poke clear in the final 100m.

  • 3rd – Hard Faith

Race favourite Oregon’s Day has just managed to hold on to beat a luckless Swampland in the Chandler Macleod Plate this afternoon.

Oregon’s Day was settled within the field as Forgeress took up the early running and set a fair tempo for the classy field of fillies.

Working into the clear early in the final straight, jockey Mark Zahra was greeted with a smart turn of foot as the mare hit the line well, but Swampland was arguably the run of the race after finally getting out late and finishing second by a short head.

  • 3rd – Schism

Race 3 (1:40pm) Hockingstuart Plate Results

Mr Sneaky has beaten a talented field of sprinters to comfortably take out the Hockingstuart Plate this afternoon.

The High Chaparral gelding was forgotten in betting markets for Race 3 in the hours leading up to jump, but did his chances of beating the trend no harm when jumping well and taking a position within the capacity field.

Enjoying a carefree run in transit, jockey Mark Zahra produced the horse with 300m to run and was greeted with a big turn of foot; beating Theanswermyfriend with 100m to run.

Merchant Navy has continued his unbeaten career start with a smart performance to win the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) this afternoon.

The Fastnet Rock colt had not been seen at the races since late April and after jumping well this afternoon, was settled towards the tail of the McNeil Stakes field by jockey Mark Zahra.

Pulled to the outside of the pack when the field straightened, Merchant Navy mustered a big turn of foot and flew home to post his four-consecutive win.

Race 5 (2:50pm) Group 3 Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes Results

Queensland raider Savanna Amour has produced an impressive turn of foot to win the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes in a photo from Flying Jess and Written Era.

Jockey Ben Melham settled Savanna Amour midfield after jumping well in the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes and enjoyed a reasonably carefree run in transit.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, the Love Conquers All found the lead with 200m to run and held on to win the race by a short head.

Voodoo Lad has stamped himself as a serious Spring Carnival contender with a dominant win in the Group 3 The Heath (1100m) first-up this afternoon.

Voodoo Lad was settled within The Heath field after jumping well and enjoyed a carefree run approaching the turn.

Allowed plenty of time to balance upon arriving at the final straight, the I Am Invincible gelding mustered a huge turn of foot when asked for an extra effort by jockey Brad Rawiller; savaging the line for a dominant win.

  • 3rd – Crystal Dreamer

Race 7 (4:10pm) Group 1 Memsie Stakes Results

Vega Magic has continued his impressive and undefeated run of form since transferring to the care of Lindsay Park; leading from start to finish to claim a dominant win in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m).

The former Perth galloper was sent off a clear $2.25 favourite in Memsie Stakes betting markets and left nothing to chance as he immediately strode to the lead and set a fair tempo.

Immediately responding when he was asked for an extra effort at the top of the straight, the Lope De Vega gelding always appeared the winner and stamped himself as a serious chance for The Everest in Sydney in October.

  • 3rd – Tosen Stardom

Race 8 (4:50pm) Listed Heatherlie Stakes Results

Hell Or Highwater has claimed a value and maiden black type win in the Listed Heatherlie Stakes (1700m) this afternoon.

The mare has found terrific form this time in and was chasing a third-consecutive win this afternoon, albeit at a far tougher grade.

After settling Hell Or Highwater on the pace alongside Assign, jockey Dean Yendall was greeted with a big turn of foot when he asked for an extra effort and was thrilled with the feel that the mare delivered.

  • 3rd – Amelie’s Star

Race 9 (5:25pm) Comcater Handicap Results

Grande Rosso has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to win the final race on Memsie Stakes Day.

The Written Tycoon gelding received plenty of attention in betting markets for the Aurie’s Star Handicap last time out before finishing third and subsequently jumped favourite this afternoon.

Locking in a fierce sprint battle with Chocolate Holic in the final straight, Grande Rosso poked clear in the final strides of the race to return to winning form.
