Locking in a fierce sprint battle with Alizee, the Fastnet Rock filly appeared to be dropping off the pace with 200m to travel, but produced an impressive late kick to fight back and win the race.

Jockey Glyn Schofield settled the veteran at the tail of the small field and enjoyed a carefree run as Zero To Ten, Get On The Grange and More Moet traded early hits on pace.

Working through the field as the group rounded onto the final straight, the Le Havre gelding appeared to have too much work in running down resounding favourite Sayed, but continued to fight and hit the lead in the final strides of the race.

Champion mare Winx has given punters, racing fans and connections the scare of a lifetime this afternoon; missing the start and flying home late to score a narrow win over Foxplay in the Warwick Stakes.

Winx gave her rivals a start of more than five lengths and was forced to settle at the tail of the Warwick Stakes field, but jockey Hugh Bowman remained calm on the mare and that paid dividends when she charged home to win by a short nose.

Foxplay is in line for a glittering Spring Carnival campaign after her close second, while Ecuador boxed on well for third.

  • 1st – Winx
  • 2nd – Foxplay
  • 3rd – Ecuador
