An open field of thirteen sprinters will step out for the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday afternoon; offering punters terrific value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Japanese import Brave Smash is yet to contest a race in Australia, but has continued to firm onto the top line of 2017 Regal Roller Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and is currently available at a $3.60 quote.
A strong and consistent performer in his homeland, Brave Smash finished a close second in the Group 3 Falcon Stakes (1400m) at Chukyo most notably in 2016 and resumed this year for a credible third in the Capital Stakes (1600m).
Fourth in the New Year Stakes (1600m) second-up on January 15th, the Tosen Phantom entire was last seen finishing fourth in the Group 3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) on March 4th.
Vega Magic has not been seen at the races since May, but he is undoubtedly one of the class horses of the Regal Roller Stakes field and is the sole occupant of the second line of betting at current $4.80 odds.
A former Perth galloper, Vega Magic was a strong and consistent performer through the 2016 summer; winning both the Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m) and Group 3 AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m) most notably.
Having stormed home to win the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) at his first start the Lindsay Park operation on May 20th, the Lope De Vega gelding has been charged with overcoming a race-high 60.5kgs, but will be partnered by champion hoop Damien Oliver.
Santa Ana Lane has also accepted into the field for the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday, but has firmed onto the third line of Regal Roller Stakes betting and is currently available at a quote of $7.50.
The son of Lope De Vega took a couple of runs to find form upon resuming this time, but stormed home to win the Wagga Town Plate (1200m) on May 4th.
Progressing to fifth in The Goodwood (1200m) following a tough run in transit, Santa Ana Lane was last seen finishing fifth in a talent-rich Flemington sprint on June 10th.
Godolphin colt Souchez has drifted slightly, but remains reasonably prominent in Regal Roller Stakes betting at $8.50 odds, while Lord Da Vinci ($9.50) is the only other runner currently available at single-figure odds.
