Benzini has been charged with carrying topweight of 60kgs and will require luck in running on Saturday after drawing into the Ipswich Cup field in barrier 10.

The Kiwi raider has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and will take his place in the Ipswich Cup field with a commendable record of eleven wins and twelve minors, through forty-seven starts.

Resuming this year for a close second in the Group 1 Bonecrusher Stakes (2000m) at Ellerslie on March 16th, the Tale Of The Cat gelding placed third in the Group 3 Canterbury Gold Cup (2000m) a month later.

Having finished fourth in both the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) and Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) since arriving in Australia, Benzini’s class is sure to count for plenty amongst this Ipswich Cup field and he will be partnered by last-start hoop Kelly McCulloch.

Jumbo Prince has returned to racing in typically smart form this time and should prove extremely tough to beat in the Ipswich Cup after drawing the ideal barrier 4.

Jumbo Prince returned to winning form when he dead-heated the Listed Weetwood Handicap (1200m) on April 8th, before he finished a close fourth in the Listed Tails Stakes (1600m) a fortnight later.

Blocked for a run before hitting the line well for fourth in the Listed Tattersall’s Club Members’ Handicap (1600m) on May 13th, the Outback Prince entire failed to fire in the Premier’s Cup, but is sure to be boosted by the addition of Jeff Lloyd for his run on Saturday.

Kaiser Franz (barrier 1) posted the biggest win of his career two starts ago and he is not without a chance in the Ipswich Cup from an inside draw and with only 54kgs in tow.

Failing to fire when twelfth of thirteen in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2000m) on May 13th, the Savabeel gelding flew home on the rails to win the Premier’s Cup as a $61 chance, but again failed to produce much in the Brisbane Cup last weekend.

Sort After (barrier 11) has steadily built to the task this time in and should relish the conditions of the Ipswich Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Fourth in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville on May 6th, the Wanted mare clearly relished a step up in distance when second in the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2019m) on May 20th and has since trialled exceedingly well.
