The 2017 Queensland Oaks Day results will be known shortly and we are set for a big afternoon of racing at Doomben.
The Queensland Oaks meeting was originally set to be held at Eagle Farm, but the poor state of the track during the Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup meeting led to the races being transferred to Doomben.
That means that the Queensland Oaks will be run over 2200 metres rather than the traditional 2400 metres and this will be the first time that this is the case since Winx recorded her first Group 1 win in the race in 2015.
Chris Waller has an incredibly strong hand and Australasian Oaks winner Egg Tart ($3.10) is currently on top of the 2017 Queensland Oaks betting with Ladbrokes from Dawn Wall ($6), Kenedna ($6), Ana Royale ($8) and Oklahoma Girl ($9).
Keep coming back to races.com.au all afternoon long for all the 2017 Queensland Oaks Day results.
Pardoe dominated The Phoenix to make it four wins on the trot at Doomben this afternoon.
Darren Weir-trained Snitzepeg went into The Phoenix as a clear favourite, but he was caught wide early and the strong tempo set by Pardoe had him under pressure a long way from home.
Pardoe kicked when asked for an extra effort from Hugh Bowman at the top of the straight and he raced away from his rivals to score a classy win.
Cellargirl showed an impressive turn-of-foot to return to the races with a win in the JRA Bill Carter Stakes at Doomben this afternoon.
James Orman gave Cellargirl a lovely trail into the race just behind the leaders and she exploded when she found clear running to quick put her rivals away.
Orman was most impressed with the trial of Cellargirl in the lead-up to the Bill Carter Stakes and he was even more pleased with her effort this afternoon.
Payroll held-off a fast-finishing Maryore to win the 2017 Spear Chief Handicap at Doomben this afternoon.
Damien Oliver elected to settle Payroll at the tail of the field and was forced to weave a passage in the final stages of the race.
Maryore was flying down the outside and looked as though she would finish over the top of her rival, but Payroll fought back to win in the final stages.
The 2017 PJ O’Shea Stakes victory of Single Gaze was overshadowed by the breaking down of Cylinder Beach at Doomben this afternoon.
Cylinder Beach loomed up to Single Gaze at the 300 metre mark and looked like the winner, but broke down as soon as he hit the front.
This allowed Single Gaze to add the PJ O’Shea Stakes to her impressive racing resume that has only been enhanced by a stellar Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival campaign.
Snitty Kitty claimed the biggest win of her career with a gallant performance in the Lightning Handicap.
Jockey Tim Clark settled Snitty Kitty just behind the leader in the early stages of the Lightning Handicap and the promising mare always travelled like the winner.
Prompt Return gave her a fight in the final stages, but Snitty Kitty was too strong late and did enough to claim her maiden win at black-type level.
Deploy outlasted Dothraki to win the 2017 Moreton Cup at Doomben this afternoon, but is no certainty to back-up in the Stradbroke Handicap.
Dothraki had every chance to return to winning form, but was unable to find the winning post once again and could not get his nose in front of Deploy.
Deploy was not included in the Stradbroke Handicap first acceptances that were released during the week and connections will have to pay a late-entry fee to get him into the race.
Egg Tart captured her second Group 1 win in as many starts with an excellent performance in the 2017 Queensland Oaks.
Kerrin McEvoy elected to settle Egg Tart towards the tail of the field in the early stages of the Queensland Oaks and he patiently waited for Dawn Wall to toe him into the race.
McEvoy asked Egg Tart for an extra effort at the 300 metre mark and she unleashed a scintillating turn-of-foot that saw her pick-up her rival within a couple of bounds.
Trainer Chris Waller believes that Egg Tart still has plenty of improvement left in her and he believes that the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) may be her target race during the 2017 Spring Racing Carnival.
Bonny O’Reilly could back-up in the 2017 Stradbroke Handicap at Doomben next weekend after she recorded a comfortable win in the Helen Coughlan Stakes.
There was an avalanche of money for Bonny O’Reilly in the lead-up to the Helen Coughlan Stakes and she never looked like losing the race.
Jason Collett gave her a lovely trial into the race and Bonny O’Reilly showed off her nice turn-of-foot when the gap opened at the top of the straight.
