The early scratching of the favourite Tactical Advantage has opened up betting on the major support act in Queensland on Saturday, the latest Gold Coast Guineas 2017 betting odds and tips found below.

With James Cummings withdrawing Tactical Advantage from the line-up for the Gold Coast Race 8 at 4:16pm (AEST) on Hollindale Stakes Day, there has been a reshuffle to the markets on this year’s $125,000 Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m).

Now sitting at an equal $6.50 as the co-favourites in the Gold Coast Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are the highly-rated duo of Attention and Heroic Valour who come into the sprint via very different lead-ups.

The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Attention benefits from the booking of jockey Jeff Lloyd first-up, the Stratum colt out to improve on his last start 13^th in Flemington’s Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m).

He is a Group 2 winner in Queensland from last winter, but will be working hard to hold off the gun Kiwi raider Heroic Valour on Saturday.

Prepared across the Tasman by Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards, Group 1 placed Fastnet Rock colt Heroic Valour looks well-suited to the Guineas having won all three of his previous 1200m runs to date.

So will the two best in betting battle it out in the finish or is there an upset Gold Coast Guineas result pending from the likes of last start Group 2 winning filly Savanna Amour ($7) or the consistent Les Ross-trained daughter of Hidden Dragon River Racer ($7.50)?

#2 Heroic Valour ($6.50)

The Kiwis dominated proceedings in Sydney during the autumn and tipping that to continue in Brisbane over the coming weeks. This well-performing galloper is down under for the first time, but has trialled nicely at Hawkesbury in late April. Last time out was fourth under a length beaten in a Group 1 behind Start Wondering. NZ 2000 Guineas third over a mile last November and is three-from-three over 1200m, which looks ideal first-up. Has a wide alley to overcome, but if he gets the right ride from Kiwi hoop Bosson who is over he’ll be hard to stop.

#5 Ringo’s A Rockstar ($16)

Love a value place and this Norm Stephens-trained Drumbeats gelding is it. Super consistent record in Brisbane, is a winner at this track / distance and was under a length back third at Doomben behind Tiyatrolani and River Racer last time out. Will enjoy the step up in distance here boasting an excellent 1200m record (4-2-2-0) and can surprise at a nice price.

#11 Savanna Amour ($7)

Drop in grade for John Meagher’s Love Conquers All filly who posted a narrow Group 2 win in the Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day in late February. First-up at 1200m she should be spot-on, is drawn a treat in barrier six and will be finishing hard.
