The big one for the young sprinters in Sydney on The Championships Day 2 is the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint 2017, betting tips and updated odds on the lucrative Royal Randwick clash found below.

A smart field featuring a dozen three-year-olds take to the track in Race 5 at 1:55pm (AEST) on Saturday in this year’s $600,000 Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) – formerly the Royal Sovereign Stakes.

Of the twelve up-and-comers in the mix the clear favourite in Arrowfield 3YO Sprint betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly Global Glamour ($3.20).

The punters are coming for the already two-time winning daughter of Star Witness to return to winning form for the first time since she beat home Foxplay at Randwick in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).

Global Glamour – winner of the Flight Stakes – Thousand Guineas mile double last season – is back down in distance for this following a disappointing 11^th in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m).

After doing it tough against the older mares from gate 16 of 19, the $1 million earner should be better against her own age in this on the back of an easy trial win at Rosehill in late March.

If the favourite doesn’t fire the next best fancied in the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint odds this season include the consistent Les Bridge-trained colt Glenall ($5.50) down in grade after a fourth in The Galaxy, James Cummings’ flying Bel Esprit gelding Tactical Advantage ($7.50) rising in class and the John O’Shea-trained son of Lonhro Impending ($8.50).

So does Global Glamour beat home the boys or is there an upset Arrowfield 3YO Sprint result pending on Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day?

#6 Tactical Advantage ($7.50)

Big wraps on this improving Bel Esprit gelding who is rising through the ranks and deserves a shot at a Group win here. He enjoyed four straight wins over the summer including two at Randwick, one over the 1200m, and was last seen finishing third to Derryn in the Listed Darby Munro (1200m) at Rosehill. He is unbeaten at this track and will relish returning to it off a good trial here on March 31, gets the run of the race from barrier four with Hugh Bowman in the saddle and looks overs.

#11 Global Glamour ($3.20)

Plenty to like about this dual Group 1 winning filly, even if it is hard to work out what her best distance is. Thought it was a mile after the huge effort in the spring, but she seems to want a drop back to 1200m after a couple of runs over further didn’t work out that well this time in. Beat Foxplay at this distance in the Light Fingers and will be fresh off a four week break, brought on by a recent trial, getting the weight relief against the boys and back to her own age. Handles the wet too so rain is a non-issue if it comes.

#7 Crafty Crop ($26)

One of the huge value Place bets of the day is this rails-drawn Team Hawkes-trained son of Starcraft. He has been the picture of consistency this campaign with a win and two seconds from three summer – autumn runs. Love the form out of the Darby Munro in this race and he finished second on a Heavy (10) there. Has plenty of form on rain-affected tracks and Tommy Berry knows how to ride them home in the wet.
