The two-year-olds are on show at Randwick Racecourse on the weekend in the 2017 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes, betting tips and updated odds on the Group 1 found below.
A full field of sixteen youngsters will take to the track on Day 1 of ‘The Championships’ for Randwick Race 6 at 3:10pm (AEDT) in this season’s $1 million Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m).
It has been all about the girls in the juvenile features of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival including the Golden Slipper where Frolic ran second to the impressive winner She Will Reign.
This weekend the Michael Freedman-trained Husson filly Frolic is back and she’ll handle the step-up in distance for the Inglis Sires’ and the Heavy Randwick track.
Her biggest danger according to the Inglis’ Sires betting markets is the talented Tulip from the Lindsay Park stable who is out to improve on her Golden Slipper third, the likely form line to follow into Saturday.
No ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner has saluted at double-figures since Yosei ($17 in 2010) and the others under $10 for the win this year are Gerald Ryan’s Golden Slipper fourth-placed Snitzel colt Menari ($8.50) and the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Invader ($8).
So will the best in betting get the job done or is there value tipping an upset from the likes of proven wet-tracker Single Bullet ($26) out to atone for the thirteenth in the Slipper or John Thompson’s Sweet Embrace Stakes winning filly One More Honey ($26)?
#14 Frolic ($4.50)
Just the three favourites have saluted in this race in the past decade, but Frolic is really hard to go past this year. She just kept finding for the brave Golden Slipper second in the mud last time out after defeating She Will Reign the run before in the Reisling Stakes. The best of these in the wet and is undefeated at Royal Randwick, so will appreciate coming back to the track. Should also eat-up the extra distance here and just needs the right run from the wide alley up on the speed to return to winning form.
#8 Invader ($8)
Money rolling in for Invader who has been heavily-backed in from $15 to single-figures to win. Co-trainer Peter Snowden has prepared three of the past six winners of the race including Pride Of Dubai (2015) who years ago. Hugh Bowman rides Invader from gate four and the horse has been freshened-up having missed the Slipper. His latest run then was a second in the Todman Stakes on Heavy going beaten a nose. If he hasn’t lost the fitness edge, he is a danger again.
#12 The Mission ($21)
Value punt of the race is this Paul Perry-trained Choisir colt who has been consistent all season. Fourth two back in the Pago Pago before winning a Group 3 at Rosehill on a Heavy (9) over this distance by over two lengths. If that form holds he looks way overs with the metres and track conditions a non-issue.
