Due to run as Race 4 at 2:05pm (AEDT) on the bumper Golden Slipper Stakes Day line-up, just eight runners are in the mix for this season’s $700,000 Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m).

The latest Ranvet Stakes odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au feature four single-figure hopes firmly led by Hartnell ($1.95) out to add to the strong record of favourites in the race.

The Godolphin-raced Hartnell gets Winx relief this week with the mighty mare racing in the George Ryder Stakes on Saturday instead.

This gives Hartnell a massive chance to atone for his string of recent losses to the world’s best turf horse, including the last start eighth in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m).

He’ll be even better up over these metres, the six-year-old boasting an excellent 2000m record of four wins, a second and a third from nine previous runs over the distance.

If Hartnell doesn’t fire the Ranvet Stakes betting markets have the reigning champion The United States ($5) firming to get the job done second-up after his first-up fifth just last weekend in Flemington’s Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).

To uncover any value in the markets this weekend below we have the full Ranvet Stakes 2017 form guide, betting history and facts to sort the pretenders from the genuine contenders.
