2017 Hobartville Stakes Tips & Odds Update

A smart field of three-year-olds face off in Saturday’s Hobartville Stakes 2017 at Rosehill Gardens, betting tips and the latest odds on the Randwick Guineas lead-up found below.

Comin' Through

Nine hopefuls make up the field for the $400,000 Group 2 Schweppes Hobartville Stakes (1400m) with markets at Ladbrokes.com.au led by $4 favourite Comin’ Through for Chris Waller.

Michael Walker retains the ride on this beautifully-bred Fastnet Rock colt who is a half-brother to multiple Group 1 champion Criterion.

Group 3 winner and out to improve on a fifth in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) where he put in a cracking run over an unsuitable distance.

Getting out over 1400m for this second-up and fitter makes the favourite a big chance especially from barrier four.

It is an open Hobartville Stakes betting market and hot on Comin’ Through’s heels is the returning Victoria Derby winner Prized Icon ($4.80) who has the class but will likely need the run.

So can the top two battle it out for the win or is there more value tipping something further down the Hobartville Stakes markets such as the Team Hawkes-trained Victoria Derby third placed So You Think colt Inference ($9) or Eskimo Prince winner Man From Uncle ($6)?

1st

#4 Comin’ Through ($4)

This Waller galloper is full of potential and crying out to hit it over these metres. Eskimo run first-up was good and he ran through the line well. The 1400m will be far better for him and only needs to handle his first look at Rosehill to win the first of many this autumn.

2nd

#2 Inference ($9)

Great price offered for this resuming colt who ran third in the Victoria Derby at Flemington in the spring and has had two quiet trials since. Unbeaten at 1400m (2-2-0-0) and goes well fresh. Proven in good company, right metres, right stable and can surprise at a nice price with Tommy Berry aboard.

3rd

#3 Veladero ($9)

Waller’s other runner is a Group 3 winner at the Rosehill track, was only 1.5 lengths off Yankee Rose when fourth in the Spring Champion Stakes last October and is second-up. Finished fourth under big kilos (60kg) over this distance at Randwick earlier in the month and will be better for the run. Back to set weights so that’ll be another plus, rails run and plenty of boxes ticked.

Now is the ideal time to check out the racing odds and autumn betting offers at Ladbrokes.com.au who are matching first deposits of new sign-ups dollar for dollar up to $500 in bonus bets with use of the code BETBONUS (T&Cs apply / excluding NSW).
