2016 Tattersall’s Cup Odds and Betting Update

Thirteen stayers have been confirmed to line up for the Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m) at Ascot on Saturday; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Dark Alert has found smart form leading into his third-up run and currently leads 2016 Tattersall’s Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, at a generous $5 quote.

Posting an impressive career total of seven wins and four minors through only sixteen competitive appearances, Dark Alert trialled well leading up to his return this time, before placing a credible fifth in the Listed Northam Cup (1600m).

Having since run third in the Listed Ascot Gold Cup (1800m), the Testa Rossa gelding appears as though he will relish a step up in distance on Saturday and has the notable advantage of leading hoop William Pike in the saddle.

Kia Ora Koutou is another horse that has continued to improve through two starts this time and should prove extremely tough under the conditions of the Tattersall’s Cup.

Capping a standout debut campaign third in the 2015 edition of the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m), Kia Ora Koutou was strong through four starts in autumn this year without returning to the winner’s circle.

Winning a talent-rich trial by close to three lengths at Lark Hill on October 17th, the Blackfriars gelding resumed for fifth in an Ascot minor over a mile on October 29th, before again finishing fifth in the Ascot Gold Cup last time out.

Regular hoop Joe Azzopardi will be in the saddle of Kia Ora Koutou, who will leave from the ideal barrier 2 in the Tattersall’s Cup with only 55kgs in tow.

The four-year-old is interestingly yet to herald much interest in 2016 Tattersall’s Cup betting markets and arguably offers punters the best value for money at $6 odds.

Properantes is also yet to attract the attention of punters in Tattersall’s Cup betting markets, but remains sole occupant of the third line at a $6.50 quote.

Claiming six race wins and eight minors through twenty-one appearances since debuting in 2014, Properantes clearly required a run when eighth in the Muscular Dystrophy WA BM72+ (1400m) first-up on October 22nd.

Having clearly taken benefit from the run when third in the York Cup (1500m) on November 6th, the Danehill Express gelding shouldn’t be troubled too much from the rails draw on Saturday and will also carry only 55kgs in the Tattersall’s Cup.
