A talented and capacity field of eighteen fillies and mares have been confirmed to line up for the Listed Colin McAlpine AM Memorial Classic (1200m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday; highlighted by the inclusion of a number of talented interstate raiders.
Peter & Paul Snowden have experienced plenty of success north of the border this year, and have confirmed Ravi in the 2016 Colin McAlpine AM Memorial Classic field.
Posting four wins and a further three minors through her ten career starts so far, Ravi trialled well in the lead-up to a smart performance for second in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 10th.
Progressing to fourth in the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Steaks (1200m) on October 8th, the Redoute’s Choice mare was last seen running well for fifth in the Listed MSS Security Sprint (1200m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.
The four-year-old has been charged with overcoming the outside gate at Eagle Farm on Saturday, but should relish the wide track and a weighted of only 55.5kgs.
Sprint king Joe Pride has a good opinion of Butterboom and the Warwick Farm-based horseman has confirmed the five-year-old in the 2016 Colin McAlpine AM Memorial Classic field.
Butterboom is interestingly yet to make an appearance amongst black type company, but has more than earned her start at Eagle Farm on Saturday in posting four wins and a further seven minors through only sixteen appearances.
Set on a winter preparation most recently, the daughter of Myboycharlie beat a talented field to the line in the Schweppes BM84 (1200m) at Rosehill on June 18th before a credible run for third in the Hyland Race Colours BM84 (1200m).
Last seen finishing second in each of the McGrath Estate Agents BM77 (1200m) and Debra Coombs Handicap (1200m) in July, Butterboom has trialled well in the lead-up to her competitive return and she should receive a good run in transit from the central barrier 9.
The local contingent of runners in the 2016 Colin McAlpine AM Memorial Classic is a strong one, and arguably headlined by the Toby Edmonds-trained Magic I Am.
Resuming in August for a smart win in the Gallopers Sports Club Handicap (1200m), the Magic Albert mare placed second in a pair of Queensland minors over 1200m respectively, before winning the Hotel Beach House Handicap (1400m) last time out on September 24th, but close to three lengths.
