Today, Saturday November 12, Sandown’s Ladbrokes Park hosts an all-Black Type card for Zipping Classic Day 2016 – scratchings and a full track report for the meeting found below.
It is cloudy at Ladbrokes Park with a high chance of rainfall across the afternoon meaning there could be a bit more give in the ground for the later races than the current Good (4) track rating.
The Sandown racing action kicks off at 12:25pm (AEDT) this afternoon and the bumper 10-race program continues through until the card closer at 5:55pm (AEDT).
Six of the 10 Sandown races today hold Group status including Races 6 & 7 – the 2016 Sandown Guineas and 2016 Zipping Classic.
Of the four Listed support acts the highlight is early on the line-up with the 2016 Sandown Cup running as Race 3 over the two miles.

Total Scratchings: 11
Thirteen of the fourteen final acceptors remain in the mix for the card opener, a set weights sprint for two-year-olds where only three have previous race experience. Betting is led by the unraced Easy Choice colt Kedleston ($4.60) who has D. Oliver aboard for his debut. It’s wide open and a tough race for punters, but Written Tycoon filly Herrera for Robbie Laing won a Cranbourne trial recently in nice fashion and is well priced at $8.50 to bring that form to the races today.
All seven acceptors for the Sandown Stakes are still in the mix, with money continuing to come in for Hong Kong expat Redkirk Warrior ($2.40) who can beat these in his second run down under. Challenges come from the Darren Weir-trained duo Stratum Star and Royal Rapture.

Just eight left for the staying showdown with the English raider Qewy now odds-on at $1.80 to win after his Geelong Cup victory on debut down under and the brave Melbourne Cup fourth. Can’t see him getting beaten by any of these, but money coming in for De Little Engine ($7 into $4.40).

Handicap sprint for the short-distance specialists has nine remaining hopefuls with the markets led by the rails-drawn O’Malley ($3.50) who comes off a Moonee Valley win over 955m. Inside draw isn’t ideal at the track however and opens it up for the likes of the returning Husson Eagle ($7.50) who races well fresh and the Brockhoff ($6) second-up with Kerrin McEvoy riding.
Still a full field of 16 lining up in this middle distance sprint for the three-year-old fillies and Prompt Response ($3.30) is clear favourite after her two brave seconds in similar class at the Valley and Flemington over 1200m and 1400m respectively. Beaten a nostril flare on Melbourne Cup Day and will get a better run from closer this time. Value in the undefeated Moonlites Choice ($9.50) and McEvoy’s mount Petition ($5.50) coming off a second to subsequent black-type winner Jennifer Lynn.
Just nine runners in the Guineas this spring – with Odds Boost Extra Available at Ladbrokes.com.au on the race (T&Cs apply). Odds-on favourite is Morton’s Fork ($1.95) who was narrowly beaten by a half-brother of the great Criterion last time out on Derby Day. Jennifer Lynn ($3.70) shoots for four straight and takes on the boys here from a favourable gate.

Eight runners vying for the day’s top prize and good money up for grabs here. Defending champion Who Shot Thebarman ($3.80) is travelling well again, only needs to stay out of trouble from the inside alley. International raider Big Orange ($3.90) looks like he’ll have the best improvement out of the Melbourne Cup run. Three-year-old So Si Bon ($4.50) is the danger.

All eleven original acceptors still set for this weight-for-age sprint where betting is led by Illustrious Lad ($3.10) who goes up notably in weight after the Group 2 Derby Day win over 1200m at Flemington. Value in other proven WFA stars including Under The Louvre ($4.60) and Lucky Hussler ($5.50).

Thirteen remaining chances in this quality handicap where money is rolling in for Cool Chap ($4.20) who looks set to peak after back-to-back seconds in the lead-up. Genuine winning chance for Alaskan Rose ($6.50) to atone for a luckless run last time out.

Full field of 16 mares remains in the card closer and it’s full of depth this set weights plus penalties clash. Punters are coming for Shillelagh ($3.90) who is racing in career best form, but Silent Sedition ($4.20) from the outside barrier has been racing so well and could be the one to beat.
