Qewy, from the powerful Godolphin stable, could give English trainer Charlie Appleby another feature race win after the seven year old won the Group 3 $300,000 Geelong Cup (2400m) at Geelong on October 19.

Qewy then lined up in the Group 1 $6m Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 1 to finish a gallant fourth to Almandin.

Geelong Cup winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy is back aboard Qewy in the Sandown Cup replacing Melbourne Cup jockey Craig Williams.

Appleby had also trained Oceanographer to win the Group 3 $300,000 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington on October 29 while stablemate Francis Of Assisi was in the winner’s stall on two occasions with victories in the Group 3 $300,000 Jayco Bendigo Cup (2400m) at Bendigo on October 26 and in the Group 3 $300,000 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington on November 5.

The Danny O’Brein trained De Little Engine gets his chance to win a feature race after finishing fourth in both the Lexus Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Damian Lane takes over from Chad Schofield and the Encosta De Lago six year old will jump from barrier six in the field that has been reduced to ten runners following the early scratching of the Robbie Laing trained Cinnamon Carter.

Craig Williams mount Bring Something has drawn the outside barrier in the Sandown Cup and the Ken Keys trained gelding is coming off a last start fourth to Francis Of Assisi in the Bendigo Cup.
