Predicted Melbourne Cup Results 2016: Finishing Order

The 2016 Melbourne Cup results will be known when the ‘race that stops a nation’ runs at 3:00pm (AEDT) this afternoon as Flemington Race 7, but before the two mile classic is run and won see below for the predicted Melbourne Cup finishing order.

It’s a mixed bag for the punters in the markets at for this year’s $6.2 million Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) – the 156th running of the time-honoured feature – with no standout market mover.

The John O’Shea-trained Hartnell is on the drift in Melbourne Cup odds out to $6, a dollar under what Fiorente ($7 in 2013) jumped at as the only Melbourne Cup favourite to salute in the past decade.

Caulfield Cup winning mare Jameka has drifted out to $8.50 to complete the Spring Cups double and set a new Melbourne Cup weight carrying record for a four-year-old mare under her 54.5kg.

Punters have also shied away from the two shortest-priced international raiders with last weekend’s Lexus Stakes winner Oceanographer out to $9 to emulate Shocking (2009) with a Cup win three days later and the Aidan O’Brien Irish galloper Bondi Beach out to $10 for Team Williams.

So will Hartnell salute for the punters? Will Jameka score the coveted Caulfield – Melbourne Cups double? What will the exact Melbourne Cup results be in 2016?

To help with your exotic Melbourne Cup betting tips to lock in at on everything from the winner to the First Four, we’ve got our forecasted Melbourne Cup finishing order 2016 right here.

2016 Melbourne Cup Best Roughie

  • No. 7 Who Shot Thebarman ($34)

History says he’s too old and he’s been in the Melbourne Cup trifecta before, which also doesn’t bode well statistically, but he is a dead set two mile horse from the Chris Waller stables and always worth a throw in exotics at the distance.
