Set to jump as the penultimate event on the program, this year’s $500,000 Group 1 IG Markets Toorak Handicap (1600m) runs as Caulfield Race 9 at 5:10pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

Originally the Toorak Handicap field featured 13 runners.

Darren Weir has opted to scratch his Japanese import Tosen Stardom however and he heads towards a run in the Group 1 Longines Mile (1600m) on VRC Derby Day, October 29, at Flemington.

Of the remaining runners the top fancy in updated Toorak Handicap betting markets at at $3.30 and firming is He’s Our Rokkii shooting for three straight wins at the track this time in.

The Lindsay Park galloper is up notably in class however, which opens it up for an upset Toorak Handicap result from the likes of last start Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Bon Aurum ($5) and the Sydney raider Moral Victory ($14) drawn a treat in barrier three.

Earlier in the week we published our comprehensive 2016 Toorak Handicap Form Guide & Preview, and based on the facts in that we have the best betting tips on the classic found below.

#3 Bon Aurum ($5)

The Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes – Toorak Handicap double was last achieved by Trust In A Gust (2014) and there’s plenty to suggest this local Ciaron Maher-trained four-year-old can be the next. He goes up from 52kg last start to 56kg so needs to handle the extra kilos and metres, but barrier seven is ideal and as a four-year-old he is the right age for a win. A solid Win Rate and top record at Caulfield have him ticking plenty of boxes to stretch out to a mile and win again.

#10 Thames Court ($10)

Good price on offer for this David Brideoake-trained mare who runs fourth-up and will be ready to peak. Her lead-up form has been very good, the four-year-old daughter of Commands coming off a last start fourth in the Sir Rupert when only 1.3 lengths off the winner. She gets in well in the weights again on the 52kg minimum for the rematch, has winning form at the distance and at these odds can surprise.

#4 He’s Our Rokkii ($3.30)

Firming and deserving favourite who will take some beating. Favourites have a good record in the Toorak over the past 10 years, as do four-year-olds, and this galloper boasts the best Win Rate (40%) of the field. He’s two-from-three at Caulfield, is a multiple winner and placegetter up over 1600m and will be ready to peak getting to these metres third-up. Just needs to handle a Group 1 field.
