Due to run as Flemington Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEDT), this season’s $200,000 Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) has attracted a full 16 starters plus three emergencies awaiting a scratching to make the race day line-up.

Coming off back-to-back wins is the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Exocet who shoots for three straight from barrier 10 on the weekend with Dwayne Dunn retaining the ride.

Dunn has ridden the in-form Smart Missile filly for her two recent wins, including a 2.25 length effort over 1400m at Caulfield on September 17 from barrier 14 (of 14).

Also coming off a smart last start win is visiting Kiwi raider Eleonora from the stables of Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman.

The New Zealand form of the three-year-olds has been stacking up down under this season to date, Makfi filly Eleonora looking to continue that trend in the Edward Manifold Stakes in her first Group race assignment.

She broke her maiden status on debut down under on September 16 at Geelong over 1300m on the synthetic track as the odds-on favourite, and is drawn nicely in gate two on Sunday with ace hoop Damien Oliver retaining the ride.

Also coming up trumps in the Edward Manifold Stakes barrier draw for the Flemington mile feature include the rails-drawn Whyouask (1) who ran third to Exocet last start, the Robbie Griffiths-trained Classic Diva (3) coming off a 1200m win in the mud at Echuca and Hugh Bowman’s mount Another Bullseye (5) prepared locally by Danny O’Brien.

Higher up the ratings but drawn wide in barrier 14 is the John O’Shea-trained Chipanda who has James McDonald retaining his association in Melbourne.

The nicely-bred daughter of Sepoy needs to improve on her recent Sydney form if she is to handle her Edward Manifold Stakes rivals on Sunday however after a Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) seventh and Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) ninth to 2016 Thousand Guineas-bound Foxplay at Randwick.

Another nicely-bred filly coming off a better lead-up is the John McArdle-trained daughter of So You Think, Smart As You Think.

She was last seen running second in the Listed Morphettville Guineas (1600m) when a nose off Silvera on September 10.

Back over the distance this weekend she gets the chance to go one better and break her maiden status at start number five from barrier eight with Daniel Stackhouse riding.

Other notable final acceptors include the Lindsay Park-trained Waterloo Sunset coming off a 1400m win at Pakenham and Al Samer filly Peeking Duck prepared at Mornington by Trent Pennuto.
