The $200,000 Group 2 W.H. Stocks Stakes (1600m) is one of four Group status races on the Moir Stakes Night card and has attracted 15 mares at nomination stage on Monday.

The highest-rated of those and early pre-field favourite in the Stocks Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au is the David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Rising Romance ($3).

The now six-year-old daughter of Ekraar is best known for her Group 1 ATC Oaks (2400m) win as a three-year-old back in 2014.

She has won just one race since but has plenty of Group 1 form including the 2014 Caulfield Cup second and more recently her first-up second to Black Heart Bart in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m).

Her last run was a seventh in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), and she also holds a nomination for the $500,000 Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Sunday.

Rising Romance is one of three Stocks Stakes nominees for the Lindsay Park stable along with Metaphorical and Jessy Belle who ran fifth and fourth respectively in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) last time out at Flemington.

Also a dual Stocks Stakes – Turnbull Stakes nominee this weekend in Melbourne and occupying the second line of all-in betting on the first is the Danny O’Brien-trained Miss Rose De Lago ($4).

She won the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) first-up at Caulfield before things went amiss when she finished 14th and failed to beat home any other runners in the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 3.

The only other single-figure hope in the current futures Stocks Stakes betting odds at $5.50 is the Tony McEvoy-trained Let’s Elope Stakes winner Don’t Doubt Mamma.

She has had just one previous Moonee Valley run, but is a consistent daughter of Not A Single Doubt boasting winning form over many of the other Stocks Stakes entries.

Other notable hopes include the Robert Smerdon-trained six-year-old Iggimacool who has a good record over the distance (5-3-1-0) and Matthew Dale’s Court command five-year-old Rocket Commander.
