The 2016 Memsie Stakes odds of Black Heart Bart continue to shorten and the star galloper is set to start the Group 1 event at Caulfield this afternoon as a clear favourite.
Black Heart Bart opened as a dominant favourite when the Memsie Stakes betting market was released on Wednesday and his position has only solidified following the scratchings of both likely leader Lord Of The Sky and Australian Derby winner Tavago.
The Goodwood winner’s nearest competition in the Memsie Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes comes from his stablemate Mahuta.
Mahuta recorded six wins on the trot during both the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival and his autumn campaign before he failed to fire in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 5.
He will go into this race with a clear fitness edge over a number of his rivals – following his runs in both the Bletchingly Stakes and the P.B. Lawrence Stakes – and he is currently available at 2016 Memsie Stakes odds of $5.50.
The only other runner that is available at single figure Memsie Stakes odds with Ladbrokes is another Darren Weir-trained galloper in the form of Palentino.
Palentino won the Australian Guineas in the autumn before he was sent to the spelling paddock after being beaten by Tally in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley on March 18.
The Teofilo entire returned to the races with a credible performance in the Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield on August 13 and he is now available at a quote of $8 to record a second win at Group 1 level.
Prince Of Penzance is the other Memsie Stakes runner for Darren Weir and he has been the only market mover following the scratchings of Lord Of The Sky and Tavago.
Prince Of Penzance has only been seen at the races once since his memorable victory in the Melbourne Cup and he put the writing on the wall for a quality spring campaign with a fast-finishing second in the RA Lee Stakes at Morphettville on May 21.
The other horses in the Memsie Stakes have remained steady at their opening quotes and there has not been a great deal of support for the likes of Alpine Eagle ($12), Tarzino ($13), Tally ($31), Rising Romance ($16) and Sofia Rosa ($14).
Whatever horse you fancy in the Memsie Stakes you can back them at excellent odds with leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au.
