2016 Toy Show Quality Tips & Odds Update

The last of the five Group features on the Warwick Stakes Day program on the weekend at Randwick is the Toy Show Quality 2016, betting tips for the fillies-and-mares’ clash detailed below.

Running as Randwick Race 8 at 4:20pm (AEST), this Saturday’s $125,000 Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1300m) features a line-up of 10 female gallopers including a host of last start winners.

Sitting top of the updated Toy Show Quality betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au is Dixie Blossoms ($3.90), a consistent Ron Quinton-trained Street Sense mare boasting two wins and two seconds across her five starts last season.

She comes off two third placings in Randwick trials, including one behind Thyme For Roses, and jumps from gate six with Tim Clark aboard.

It’s an open market however with a further four runners under double-figures in the Toy Show Quality odds including Elle Lou ($4.40) and Pioneering ($5) – two last start winners from the star stables of Chris Waller.

So will the best three in betting be the first three over the line or is there value tipping an upset Toy Show Quality result from the likes of the John O’Shea-trained Pearls ($6) looking to get back to her top form early last season as a three-year-old or the returning Group 1 runner-up Heavens Above ($7) who gives the weight away with the 59kg top weight?

#5 Pioneering ($5)

Waller is dually represented in the race and this Sebring four-year-old is the value shooting for her fourth win on the trot. The latest saw her cart 58.5kg to victory over 1400m at Rosehill, and while she’s yet to win from three Randwick runs, the 1300m off a freshen-up dropping back to 54kg is ideal. Tommy Berry jumps aboard and barrier four is the perfect post. Lots to like and it’s hard to knock her form on the minimum weight.

#3 Pearls ($6)

Godolphin-trained daughter of Exceed And Excel runs as a four-year-old for the first time from a gun barrier two draw with Brenton Avdulla riding on just 54kg. She won the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes last September and was under a length off the winner when fourth in the Flight Stakes at elite level. Her form since has been hit and miss, but the stable is confident and she has shown enough in a couple of lead-up trials to put her in the exotics.

#1 Heavens Above ($7)

Tim Martin prepares the class mare in the race who is weighted accordingly. The big kilos will be the killer, but after her second in the Queen Of The Turf here in April it’s hard not to put her in for a place. She has strong Randwick form (4-2-1-1), is a Group 3 winner and even without a trial to bring her on, her performances last time in are enough to throw her in the top three.
