A talented field of fifteen of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting fillies will line up for the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Modern Wonder has continued to receive steady support in 2016 Quezette Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and remains an outright $6 favourite for success, ahead of I Am A Star ($6) and Concealer ($8).
Will Modern Wonder justify her outright favouritism and win the Quezette Stakes 2016, or will one of her many talented rivals post an upset?
Classy filly Concealer has so-far received the greatest share of bets for success this weekend; cutting in from Quezette Stakes odds of $15 to currently figure as clear $8 market mover. Immediately stamping herself as a filly to follow upon debuting to racing for success in the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day, Concealer returned to racing this year for second in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude Fillies (1100m) on February 13th, but was unable to make anything of an impact when ninth in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) a fortnight later. Having returned to the paddock after running sixth in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m), the Nicconi filly will need luck in running from barrier 14 on Saturday, but will be partnered by leading hoop Craig Williams in the Quezette Stakes.
Sword Of Light ($8.50)
Stakes winner Sword Of Light is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from a first-up run for second in the Brian Reckas Handicap (1000m) on July 30th, will enjoy a step-up to 1100m in the Quezette Stakes and could very well receive the run of the race from the rails draw. Winning an Echuca maiden race over 1000m with ease on debut, the New Approach filly resumed on Australia Day for success in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview Fillies (1000m) before a luckless run in the Blue Diamond Prelude. Having clearly had enough by the time she ran eighth in the Listed Festival Of Racing 1000 (1000m) on March 5th, Sword Of Light will be partnered by regular hoop Damian Lane on Saturday.
Modern Wonder ($5.50)
Modern Wonder is yet to taste defeat through her short racing career, but will contest the Quezette Stakes first-up from a spell and may require the run to find competitive condition. Modern Wonder left as a $10 chance in her only competitive start to date; the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on April 23rd, but more than stamped herself as a filly to follow with a dominant two length win. Modern Wonder is drawn well in barrier 5 and will carry only 56.5kgs.
