The $3.5 million winning son of Written Tycoon was last seen taking out the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in the autumn and was originally set for a return at weight-for-age against the older horses in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m).

A Heavy (10) track for last Saturday’s meeting saw trainers Peter & Paul Snowden save the star colt for a later return this weekend against his own age in the $150,000 Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at set weights plus penalties.

Capitalist, who has recently enjoyed back-to-back Randwick trial wins in July, is early favourite for next month’s $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) back at Rosehill on September 10.

He will also start dominate favourite in San Domenico Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au on the weekend, despite the run being over a shorter distance than his trainers originally preferred.

Also nominated for the San Domenico Stakes for the stable is the undefeated Russian Revolution who won’t accept for the Sydney clash with his stablemate, instead heading to Melbourne for the Group Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

Early San Domenico Stakes nominations have attracted only nine runners, Racing NSW extending entries until 11am (AEST) on Tuesday morning.

Aside from the Snowden duo, the other two shortest-priced hopes in futures Golden Rose Stakes betting nominated for the San Domenico Stakes are the Team Hawkes-trained Star Turn ($31) and Gerald Ryan’s undefeated Manhattan Rain colt Tango Rain ($31).

Star Witness colt Star Turn has won just one of his five starts to date when taking out October’s Listed Pierro Stakes (1100m) at Randwick by three lengths.

He went on to run second in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) and fifth in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in Melbourne that campaign before his last start sixth behind Capitalist when beaten 3.2 lengths in the Golden Slipper as a $41 roughie.

Since then Star Turn has had two winning trials in Sydney, the latest over 900m at Rosehill on August 2 where he returns first-up on Saturday.

Local youngster Tango Rain is yet to taste defeat having won his two career openers over the winter at Canterbury.

His most recent was on a Heavy (8) track over 1200m on July 23 where he defeated the Gai Waterhouse & Andrew Bott-trained Thronum who franked the form winning last Saturday’s Listed The Rosebud (1200m).

Also undefeated and entered for the San Domenico Stakes is the Barry Ratcliff-trained Ready’s Image filly from Kempsey in country NSW, Beside You.

She won at her home track by 2.3 lengths on debut in May before a last start victory at Coffs Harbour on July 24, although only in Class 1 company.

The other filly nominated to take on the boys if accepted into the San Domenico Stakes field this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival is the Joe Pride-trained Kentucky Miss.

The daughter of the 2011 San Domenico Stakes winner Foxwedge, best known for his William Reid Stakes win the following year, has had six starts for two wins so far.

She was tested a number of times in Group company during the summer – autumn this year before stepping down in class for a Wyong win on July 12.

Her latest run was a fifth to Derryn in a two-years-old handicap at Caulfield on July 30, Saturday her first start as a three-year-old.
