Sold For Song Heads 2016 Sunshine Coast Guineas Odds

Kevin Kemp’s flying filly Sold For Song chases back-to-back Queensland Black-Type wins on successive Saturdays this weekend and is well-backed in Sunshine Coast Guineas 2016 betting to get the job done.

Two back the super-consistent daughter of Collate ran third to Tsaritsa in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) before atoning with a win in last Saturday’s Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

Her Toowoomba-based trainer Kemp has accepted her for another Queensland Winter Racing Carnival feature, the $125,000 Group 3 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m), but will leave a final decision on her running for Friday.

She is drawn wide in gate 12 of 15 for the mile clash, but the bookies are taking no chances and Sold For Song sits top of the Sunshine Coast Guineas odds at paying $3.10 to post her fourth win at career start number nine.

Following closely in Sunshine Coast Guineas betting at $3.70 is Tivaci, drawn the opposite end of the field in barrier two with leading Queensland hoop Damian Browne aboard the Michael Moroney-trained galloper.

The Flemington-trained High Chaparral colt hasn’t won a race since his protest victory over Palentino in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at home in February and has had a luckless Queensland raid this winter.

Two back he crossed a brave fourth to Chris Waller’s Group 1 placed Counterattack in the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m) at Doomben before being badly hampered in the run for a last start sixth in the Queensland Guineas.

Occupying the third line of the Sunshine Coast Guineas markets at $6.50 is the early mover High Spirit jumping one on Tivaci’s outside from barrier three.

Kerrin McEvoy rides the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Sydney visitor who comes off a Queensland Guineas fourth as the best male galloper over the line behind the top three fillies.

He has had a total of three runs over Saturday’s distance for a second and a third and is set to get a clearer run this weekend after having a tough time from gate 13 last start.

Rounding out the single-figure hopes at $9.50 is the rails-drawn Mr Individual.

Leon & Troy Corstens’ Starspangledbanner colt is out to atone for his 10th in the Queensland Guineas behind a number of the same rivals he faces off in the Sunshine Coast edition this weekend.

He has since enjoyed a winning 1000m Gold Coast barrier trial win however and has previous 1600m winning form in Melbourne over He’s Our Rokkii at Caulfield last October.
