Adelaide’s Morphettville Racecourse is host to an eight-race card for South Australian Derby Day 2016 today, Saturday May 14, and below is the full scratchings and track report for the meeting.

A fine day weather-wise is on the bill for Adelaide across the afternoon with a top of 21 degrees and no rain on the forecast, meaning the Good (4) track rating should remain the same until the card closer.

Racing kicks off for SA Derby Day at 12:35pm (ACST) and continues through until 5:00pm (ACST) with the line-up headlined by Morphettville Race 7 at 4:25pm (ACST) with the running of the $500,000 Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m).

The first emergency Dropped gets a run in this year’s Derby field after the sole scratching from the race, Prince Of Pagoda (13), came out earlier in the week.

Black-Type racing is first-up on the bill with Race 1 – the $100,000 Listed Oaklands Plate (1600m) for the two-year-olds.

Toyshop (6) comes out of the original eight runners from the Tony McEvoy stables leaving just seven youngsters in the set weights plus penalties feature, markets at Ladbrokes.com.au firmly led by Peter Jolly’s last start Group 3 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) winner Morvada ($2).

The other key support act on the card runs as Race 4 – the $100,000 Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m) subject to four scratchings including the Darren Weir-trained Rageese (10) who won the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) at the track last time out.

Also out of the Adelaide Guineas field leaving 11 runners are Patrick Payne’s last start Sale winner Day Of Rest (6), the rails-drawn filly Irada (1) from the Caulfield stables of Mick Price and the Phillip Stokes-trained local Star Witness filly Coerced Witness (15) who had drawn the outside barrier.
