She’s Clean Heads 2016 Dark Jewel Classic Field & Weights

Chris Waller’s veteran seven-year-old mare She’s Clean is the top-rated and weighted of the female gallopers facing off in Saturday’s Dark Jewel Classic 2016 field at Scone Racecourse.

The headline event on day two of the Scone Cup Carnival, this year’s $200,000 Group 3 Godolphin Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) is set to run as Scone Race 7 at 3:50pm (AEST).

The handicap clash features a capacity line-up of fillies and mares with 16 confirmed starters plus four emergency runners awaiting a call-up.

Drawn a treat in gate four but allocated 58kg is Redoute’s Choice mare She’s Clean coming off a sixth to Nancy in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) where she carried the same weight first-up.

A four-time winner over the 1400m, She’s Clean shoots for her first win since the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle back in September last year.

Waller has also accepted for the widely-drawn Sense And Reason (18) out to improve on her ninth in the Hawkesbury Crown.

The best out of the Hawkesbury Crown this year backing-up in the Dark Jewel Classic is Lee Curtis’s third placegetter Press Report.

Not seen in the winner’s stall since February last year, it has been a long time between drinks for the Written Tycoon four-year-old.

Press Report has been performing well this time in however including her first-up second in February’s Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) behind Amicus as a $51 shot and her Hawkesbury Crown third when beaten under three lengths.

There are three last start winners in the Dark Jewel Classic field this season including the Barbara Joseph & Paul Jones-rained Just A Blur.

Matthew Cahill has the ride on the five-year-old daughter of Dane Shadow won saluted over 1200m at Wagga on May 5.

Also coming off a victory are Kris Lees’ four-year-old Danish Twist who won over 1300m on Hawkesbury Cup Day carrying 58kg but who drops to 54kg on Saturday and the Kim Waugh-trained Hetty Heights also down in kilos from 59kg last start to Saturday’s minimum (54kg).

Following She’s Clean in the Dark Jewel Classic weights on 57.5kg is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Artistry who Kerrin McEvoy is booked to ride from barrier 13, possibly into 11.

The Shamardal four-year-old won the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1350m) three back before an eighth to Azkadellia in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) and a fifth in the Hawkesbury Crown late last month.

The only other mare weighted above the minimum is Gerald Ryan’s Bernardini six-year-old Peace Force (56.5kg) who finished a good fourth in the Hawkesbury Crown, which could prove the form line to follow into Saturday’s race.

Last year’s winning trainer Joe Pride who took out the Dark Jewel 12 months ago with Divertire ($26) in an upset returns this autumn saddling-up Ammirata (14).

She won first-up over 1200m at Randwick with 59.5kg on her back in her first run since a narrow victory in Gosford’s Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) in early January.

Her last start was also in the Hawkesbury Crown where she failed to fire again crossing 5.5 lengths back for a mid-field seventh.
