Oaks Hopes Head 2016 Gold Coast Bracelet Field & Odds

A host of the top early Queensland Oaks fancies face off this Saturday on A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day in the Gold Coast Bracelet 2016.

One of the key support races on the card, this year’s $125,000 Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) features a full field of 14 starters plus five emergencies.

Heading the latest Gold Coast Bracelet odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $3.50 for the win, which would be her third on the trot this time in, is the progressive Bjorn Baker-trained Makfi filly Imposing Lass.

To date she has had four runs for three wins, all in Sydney, the latest of which was a half-length effort over 1500m at Rosehill a fortnight back.

She’s improving with each run and loving extra metres, so the step up to 1800m should suit the in-form filly who might not have faced this class yet, but whose form is still hard to knock.

The breeding is there for her to eat up the 1800m and she is also leading all-in betting for next month’s $500,000 Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) over the mile and a half at Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane.

Second favourite in Gold Coast Bracelet betting this season and the early market mover backed in from $4.40 to $4.20 is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Falkenberg with Damian Browne booked for the ride.

Another top futures hope in Queensland Oaks betting, the More Than Ready filly has won two of her six starts to date and comes off a fourth to fellow Bracelet rival Imposing Lass in Sydney.

There are just two other single-figure fancies for Saturday’s Oaks lead-up at the Gold Coast with the John O’Shea-trained daughter of Street Cry Circular ($5.50) who comes off a 1500m win at Canterbury from late last month and Queen Of Wands ($7).

Dual Queensland Oaks winning trainer Clarry Conners prepares the in-form Not A Single Doubt filly Queen Of Wands for a bid at the staying showdown this winter.

She is well-tried with 15 runs under her belt already including a Group 1 in Sydney last year when ninth to Pride Of Dubai in the ATC Sires’ Produce (1400m).

Two back she was third past the post behind He’s Our Rokkii in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) before her nice second when just a neck off Look To The Stars in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) in the Sunshine Coast.

She has a wider draw this weekend but the distance to overcome and after her strong last start run looks a big hope of running out the 1800m here.

The other best in betting at more generous odds include Team Snowden’s Vinery Stud Stakes fourth placed Stratum filly Self Esteem ($10) who was beaten just over three lengths when ninth in the ATC Oaks last start, O’Shea’s daughter of Bernardini Montignac ($12) coming off a mile win at Warwick Farm and the Matthew Dunn-trained Redoute’s Choice filly Kebede ($13) who finished fourth in the Princess Stakes two weeks ago.
