A key support race on the Robert Sangster Stakes Day card on the weekend, this season’s $250,000 Group 2 Euclase Stakes (1200m) nominations feature a bumper 24 three-year-old sprinters.

Blue Diamond Stakes winning trainer Mick Price has two entries with Secret Agenda and Badawiya heading the early nominations.

Al Maher filly Badawiya was third past the post behind Stay With Me last October in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) and has had three runs this time in.

The first of those produced a Flemington win in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m), while her latest run was a seventh behind 2016 Stradbroke Handicap favourite Azkadellia in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) in Sydney on April 9.

Badawiya however is one of a number of the headline fillies nominated for the Euclase Stakes this year that have subsequently accepted into the $400,000 Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) field on Saturday.

Price’s other possible Euclase Stakes runner on the weekend is Group 3 winning Not A Single Doubt filly Secret Agenda whose last start produced a brave second behind subsequent Godolphin Crown runner-up at Hawkesbury Two Blue in Randwick’s Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m).

The other Euclase Stakes nominations that made the Robert Sangster Stakes field for Saturday are the Tony McEvoy-trained Don’t Doubt Mamma coming off a win in the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) at the track on April 23 and the James Cummings-trained Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) winner at Randwick last start Tempt Me Not.

Don’t Doubt Mamma might be going to the Group 1 but the two fillies that finished second and third behind her respectively in the Redelva Stakes are in the Euclase Stakes mix with Miss Gunpowder and Super Cash.

Pendragon filly Miss Gunpowder is locally trained by Phillip Stokes and has had four starts at the track for two wins and two seconds.

She is also a Group 2 winner in Melbourne having taken out last September’s Thousand Guineas Prelude before her eighth in the Group 1 mile feature at Caulfield next run.

Super Cash meanwhile hails from the Caulfield stables of Andrew Noblet, who also saddles-up favourite in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au for Saturday’s Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) Silent Sedition.

Along with Miss Gunpowder Adelaide horseman Stokes has also nominated for his improving More Than Ready filly Cocoa Doll who ran fourth in the Redelva Stakes defeated only one and a half-lengths.

Other notable Euclase Stakes nominees this year include Group 3 Moonee Valley winner Almighty Girl, John O’Shea’s in-form New Approach gelding Demonstrate and the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Singaporean import Super One.
