Twenty two-year-olds have been included in 2016 Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1200m) nominations, to be run as the feature race at Melbourne’s Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig are poised to launch an impressive three-pronged attack on the black type race after including all of Highland Beat, Lionhearted and Tris in 2016 Redoute’s Choice Stakes nominations.

Highland Beat contested something of a busy summer and autumn preparation; charging home to finish second behind Extreme Choice in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) most notably, but failing to fire when tenth in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).

Returning from a brief freshen-up for second in the Robert Taranto Handicap (1100m), the Exceed And Excel colt savaged the line for a near-two length win in the Toronado @ Swettenham Handicap (1200m) on April 20^th.

Lionhearted has produced four commendable performances through his short racing career without managing a win, but will relish a step back in class in the 2016 Redoute’s Choice Stakes.

Debuting for seventh in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) on February 13^th, the son of Fastnet Rock progressed to second in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) before placing fourth in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) on March 12^th.

Having run sixth in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on Day 1 of The Championships, Lionhearted will be very tough to beat on Saturday should leading hoop Hugh Bowman retain the ride.

Tris will be aiming for a third-consecutive race win in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes and should prove tough to beat if fortunate at Wednesday’s barrier draw.

Failing to make much of an impact through two starts upon debut in November, Tris resumed this time for fourth in the Vobis Gold Rush (1000m) before taking out each of the Echuca Cup May 29 Book Now Maiden (1100m) and Group 3 Campolina Stud Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) most recently.

Dissolute is one of a plethora of standout two-year-olds currently in work for Godolphin and has been included in 2016 Redoute’s Choice Stakes nominations by trainer John O’Shea.

Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, Dissolute immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow when fourth in the Schweppes Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury on January 9^th.

Having immediately returned to the paddock, the son of New Approach appears to be on course for another big performance in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes after running a close second to Valliano in the Gold Ingot (1200m) at Caulfield a fortnight ago.

The 2016 Redoute’s Choice Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
