The Andrew Noblet-trained Melbourne visitor Super Cash is the clear favourite in Redelva Stakes 2016 betting for the last at Morphettville Racecourse on RN Irwin Stakes Day this weekend.
Closing the Adelaide race card on Saturday as Morphettville Race 8 at 4:53pm (local), this year’s $100,000 Listed Projection Graphics Redelva Stakes (1100m) originally attracted 12 three-year-olds.
The field is down to 11 starters however after the early scratching of the Mick Price-trained Invincible Heart (2).
Dominant favourite in the latest Redelva Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.50 for the win and jumping from gate four with Luke Currie in the saddle is Written Tycoon filly Super Cash.
Well fancied to beat home the boys in the Adelaide Black Type, Super Cash has won two of her eight career starts to date including the Listed Moomba Plate (1100m) two back at Flemington.
Her last start was a fifth to Tempt Me Not in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 2 and the Group 1 performer will appreciate the step back in distance and class on Saturday.
Occupying the second and third lines of Redelva Stakes betting this Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival are Don’t Doubt Mamma ($4.40) and Miss Gunpowder ($4.60) who the bookies are having a hard time separating the chances of.
Tony McEvoy saddles-up the well-tried Don’t Doubt Mamma has form around some of the best current crop of three-year-olds.
The Not A Single Doubt filly was third to Mahuta in the spring’s Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) before a first-up win at Flemington in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) in February.
She comes to Adelaide on the back of a second in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m), also run at Flemington, on March 12 so is coming back to a sprint distance in her shortest-start since August last year.
How she handles the sharpness of the 1100m will be key to her winning chances on the weekend, Jason Holder booked for the ride from barrier five.
Miss Gunpowder is the best fancied of the locals prepared at Morphettville by one of South Australia’s best, Phillip Stokes.
She has come up trumps with the inside run from barrier one on Saturday, Dom Tourneur riding the consistent Pendragon filly second-up.
Winner of Caulfield’s Group 2 Tranquil Star (1400m) during a successful Melbourne raid in the spring, Miss Gunpowder returned to racing at home on April 9 and was beaten only a half-length over 1050m at the track carrying 57.5kg.
She goes up to 58kg as the top weight in the Redelva Stakes, but is still a big hope if she improves off her first-up run.
Rounding out the single-figure fancies for the sprint clash is Viddora ($9.50) for local horseman Lloyd Kennnewell.
The I Am Invincible filly has a strong two-from-four record at the track and shoots for three wins on the trot.
Two back she saluted over 1050m at Oakbank before her victory over Miss Gunpowder last time out earlier in the month.
