The sole South Australian Group race of the weekend, this year’s $120,000 Group 3 Campolina Stud Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) runs as Morphettville Race 6 and has attracted a dozen final acceptors.

Drawn out in gate 10 for jockey Matthew Smith is Melbourne visitor Highland Beat, the Exceed And Excel colt having his eighth career start and shooting for just his second win.

His success came at Moonee Valley back in December, and his form since has been solid.

He was runner-up to Extreme Choice in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield in early February, before being found out as a $101 roughie when 10th to the same horse in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) later that month.

His last start was a close second over 1100m at Caulfield on March 26, Saturday his first run in Adelaide.

There are two last start winners in the mix including the Robbie Griffiths-trained Charge Forward filly Ariaz who won her debut by two lengths on March 28 over 1000m at Sandown Hillside.

She overcame barrier 11 of 12 for that commanding success and is out over more distance from a good gate four draw on the weekend in her second career start.

Tris is the other last start winner looking to extend winning form.

A stablemate of Highland Beat, the other Hayes & Dabernig-trained hope has barrier three with apprentice Dylan Dunn to ride the Street Boss filly.

Group 3 performed, she saluted by nearly five lengths over 1100m at Echuca on April 1 earning a step back up in class this weekend for her maiden interstate run.

The inside alley belongs to the Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained local hope Pretty Punk, the Rebel Raider filly after her first win after two fourth place efforts in her opening campaign.

Mcdonald & Gluyas have also accepted for So You Too who Clare Lindop rides on the back of the So You Think colt’s debut sixth at Morphettville Parks at the start of the month.

Another interstate visitor in the mix meanwhile is the Mick Price-trained Testa Rossa filly Astro Diva from Caulfield.

She had her first run on April 2 at Werribee over 1100m and was defeated under a half-length and drops from 57kg to 55.5kg at set weights in the Breeders’ Stakes.
