A key support race on the weekend line-up, this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) attracted a bumper 17 nominations for the set weights plus penalties sprint.

One of the top-rated of those is Myboycharlie five-year-old Charlie Boy whose last start back on February 27 produced a Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) win at the track.

That was the horse’s first Randwick win from six starts, form he’ll be looking to add to this weekend.

Team Snowden have also nominated for Flying Spur six-year-old That’s A Good Idea who hasn’t raced since a sixth to Cradle Me in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) under 59.5kg back in December last year.

Along with Charlie Boy there are five other last start winners nominated for the Hall Mark Stakes this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival including the John O’Shea-trained Medaglia D’Oro four-year-old Federal.

In May last year the promising Federal was runner-up in the Group 3 Hawksbury Guineas (1400m) and had his first run off a very lengthy break on March 26 winning over 1400m at Rosehill.

He is undefeated at Randwick with two previous wins at the track, including a black-type from this time last year won on a Heavy (8) track.

O’Shea and Godolphin also have Knoydart in the mix, the More Than Ready six-year-old down in class on the back of a distant 14th of 15 runners behind Chautauqua in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) from April 2.

A dual nominee on the card also entered for the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) is the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Malaguerra, the four-year-old having won his four latest runs.

Three of those were at Flemington and date back to Melbourne Cup Day last November, before his last start victory in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) from March 26 at Rosehill.

Runner-up in the same lead-up Target In Sight is also nominated for a rematch in Saturday’s Hall Mark Stakes by trainer Joe Pride, the Nadeem six-year-old a three-time winner from seven runs at Randwick to date.

Also high up the ratings include the likes of the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Fast ‘N’ Rocking who ran fourth in the William Reid Stakes two back beaten under a length and Gai Waterhouse’s smart young filly Speak Fondly.

A dual Group 2 winner at the track last season, the three-year-old daughter of Northern Meteor was runner-up in the 2015 Golden Rose before her elite level win in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) over Honesta at Randwick in early October during the spring.

She returned and ran a disappointing ninth of 10 runners behind her stablemate English in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) on March 5, but will improve over more distance on the back of a blistering five length 1050m Randwick trial win from last Friday.
