He’s Our Rokkii wins Carbine Club Stakes

Former Kiwi three year old He’s Our Rokkii stepped up to Group 3 company in fine style with a tough win in the $200,000 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Randwick today.

He’s Our Rokkii scored his second win for the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig training partnership when he sat three wide for most of the trip.

He’s Our Rokkii was well in the betting at $6 and was able to out gun the $3.70 favourite Odyssey Moon who stuck on well after setting the pace.

The Clarry Conners trained Queen Of Wands ($12) ran on foe third.

Winning jockey Dwayne Dunn was unable to get in close to the fence from barrier seven in the nine horse field but He’s Our Rokkii still responded strongly in the straight.

Hayes has no doubt that the He’s Our Rokkii will develop into a top class miler and is hoping to return to ‘The Championships’ at Randwick next year to contest the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m).
“I really feel that he would have placed in the Guineas in Melbourne if we ran him, but we decided to go the softer route and we are treating him with a real four year old view,” Hayes said.

“He will have a lovely weigh next year and a big powerful miler, so looking forward to it.”

He’s Our Rokkii is a good chance of having another run over the Sydney Autumn Carnival in the Group 3 $150,000 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) at Randwick in a fortnight.
