The fillies and mares face off at Rosehill Racecourse this Saturday in the Emancipation Stakes 2016, betting tips and the latest odds for The BMW Day support act found below.
There are 13 runners in the mix for this year’s $175,000 Group 2 Ascend Sales Trophies Emancipation Stakes (1500m), the set weights plus penalties clash set to run as Rosehill Race 8 at 5:10pm (AEDT).
Leading the latest Emancipation Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.60 for the win is the Gerald Ryan-trained Solicit who comes off a nice lead-up.
She’s run top three in all four of her starts dating back to January, the five-year-old daughter of Street Cry last seen finishing third to Peeping in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m).
Solicit is over the same track and distance with a fortnight between runs this weekend, back down to Group 2 class chasing her first win since the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) in late February.
Following Solicit in Emancipation Stakes betting this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival are the likes of Mick Price’s Melbourne raider Badawiya ($4.80) drawn a treat in barrier four and the early market mover Zanbagh ($7.50) coming off the Coolmore Classic fifth beaten only two lengths.
So can Solicit get the job done from her wide barrier 13 of 13 draw or is there a pending upset Emancipation Stakes result from the likes of Chris Waller’s Mossman five-year-old Telepathic ($8.50) who has good form at the track or even Savabeel filly Pasadena Girl ($15) who is now prepared by David Hayes & Tom Dabernig?
#2 Solicit ($2.60)
The favourite is drawn the outside alley but her form, consistency and class is hard to knock. Jockey Kerrin McEvoy needs to give her a gun ride from the gate, but if she gets that she’ll win. Always honest, the five-year-old doesn’t know how to run a bad race at Rosehill (4-1-2-1) and was so close in the Coolmore Classic in a tougher field a fortnight back with 3kg over the limit. Better weighted here and can return to winning form for the punters.
#8 Zanbagh ($7.50)
Money is coming for John Thompson’s Bernardini five-year-old and it could be worth following. First-up she was second to Solicit in the Guy Walter at Randwick before her solid Coolmore Classic run. She goes up from 51kg to 55kg, but third-up she’s be improving and any rain on course will further boost her chances as she has stellar Heavy track form (4-2-0-0).
#4 Badawiya ($4.80)
Al Maher filly Badawiya is yet to race in Sydney, but if she handles this way of going she’s every hope to add to her nice career record (8-4-1-2). Her spring included a Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) win at Flemington before a third in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m). First-up she won the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) by over two lengths, and the step up 100m here looks ideal.
